Adjacent to the town of Gourdon, the commune of Le Vigan is not insignificant. Quoted for the first time between 898 and 902 during the visit of the bishop of Cahors, Gausbert, Le Vigan is then a small town built around a monastery dedicated to the Virgin. In 1309, the Bishop of Cahors transformed the collegiate church into an abbey which became locally powerful. This imposing building is today the witness of this rich past. In addition to its assets in terms of heritage, Le Vigan can also count on its lake (2nd category lake) which is the delight of fishermen: rainbow trout, faro trout, carp, roach, bleak, black-bass.
