The small village of Brengues is best known for the remains of a castle set against the rock face. Listed as a Monument Historique since 1925, this "Château des Anglais" is one of the Lot's most impressive sights. Its history is intertwined with one of the most influential families in local and national history: the Cardaillac family. One of its branches, the Cardaillac-Brengues, acquired the seigneury of Brengues in 1504. Brengues is a charming place. Dolmen, fountain, castle, oppidum: this village is a romantic, bucolic poem, ideal for strolling and daydreaming.
