With such a pretty toponym, Espagnac Sainte-Eulalie, this little monastery-village boasts significant medieval architecture dating back to the 12th century, when its priory, Val-Paradis, was founded! Nestled in a meander of the left bank of the Célé, the village has welcomed pilgrims since its earliest days. The monastery, attached to the Order of Saint Augustine, is magnificently well preserved today. It's easy to imagine the medieval religious life that flourished in these sublime surroundings. Many nuns spent their lives within these walls. Ravaged by the Hundred Years' War, the convent recovered, but the Revolution a few centuries later put an end to its activity.
