Facing Marcilhac-sur-Célé is the unspoilt emotion of stone, of towering limestone cliffs reflected in the river, of the ruins of an11th-century abbey, of the Romanesque church, a mineral beauty without equal. Marcilhac is a gentle, peaceful little town on the banks of the Célé, where you can find a little coolness in summer: this thousand-year-old town is nestled along the water's edge and around its abbey. Excavations carried out in the late 1960s revealed similarities with the famous Abbey of Conques, confirming the date of its construction. Although much damaged by the passage of time, it retains an indescribable raw poetry.
