The hamlet of Viala attracts the eye with its rectangular tower, 25 m high, which breaks the infinity of the causse. Until the French Revolution, Viala depended on the Commanders of Sainte-Eulalie who had farm buildings there around which a few houses were built. This tower - the largest built on the Larzac - was built in the 15th century to serve as a granary and also as a refuge for the inhabitants during the troubled periods of the Middle Ages. Not far from the village, which is located on a draille - a transhumance path - the stone lavognes still serve as a watering place for the herds
