The humble village of Pouy ("summit" in Gascon), birthplace of Saint Vincent de Paul in 1581, took the name of the genial initiator and precursor of social works in December 1828. The Ranquines house in which the saint was born and grew up was reconstructed in 1700, and is now both a place of pilgrimage and a museum. The commune of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul has a special geographical configuration, as it is articulated around three localities: Le Bourg, Le Berceau and, 5 kilometers away, Buglose, an important pilgrimage site, nicknamed the "Lourdes of the Landes".
