Built on a hill, this fortified village is a maze of winding streets bordered by ancient houses. The village owes its funny name to two origins: Rape could come from a Gallic term meaning barn, or another referring to sheep. As for the «fort», it was the one that was built in the centre of the fortified Compound during the Hundred Years War, and still left a few murderers and two échauguettes. Completed in 1429, the ramparts still present fortifications of fortifications whose main door (later referred to as Porte's Door, in reference to the Occitan name of the great hackberry that had been planted there). Another door was raised in the th century, two still in the th century. By one or other, you enter the narrow streets which have kept a medieval atmosphere; on their old base, however, houses have been adorned with windows windows, but despite additions and deletions, they keep beautiful.
