This small village (900 souls all the same) can be seen from afar thanks to its 13th-century medieval Saracen tower, and marks the beginning of the Alès Agglomération. In 1947, the tower was rediscovered and purchased by Giacomo Colombi and his wife. The couple restored the building and installed in the tower the cooling system that would give lead ore the status of lead shot. Other ancient vestiges to be seen in Boucoiran include the 18th-century flour and oil mill, a listed historic monument still in operation, and the Nozières railway station, one of the oldest in France.
