Located in the north-western part of the Val Parisis conurbation, the town of Pierrelaye is home to around ten thousand inhabitants, who enjoy a geographical location close to vast green spaces, as well as the banks of the Seine to the south and the Oise to the west. The town's transport links owe a great deal to its development, since it was the arrival of the railroads in the 19th century that enabled the town to emerge from its status as an agricultural and wooded commune. Pierrelaye, which includes part of the Patte d'Oie shopping area, has excellent rail and motorway links to the capital.
