10 km north-east of Paris, this young town, named in 1905, was a swamp site in the immense forest of Bondy, infested with robbers. In the "Forks", a very wet forest trail leads to the domain of Vieux old manor house built on the heights of the plateau. Later it will be owned by a wealthy superintendent of finance who runs the manor, built a sumptuous castle, and begins to build gardens. In 1770, the Domaine du Raincy became property of the family of the Dukes of Orléans, which made great embellishments. A large walkway connects the castle to the Grand Path and at the intersection, instead of "the Forks", are created two pavilions occupied by the guard of the domain. In the Revolution, the castle is abandoned, deteriorated, and the area in part sold in parcels. The central aisle leading to the castle is now the avenue Jean-Jaurès. The Guard Pavilions were sold and long occupied by small traders or artisans. At the end of the th century, settlements multiply in the vicinity of Bondy which became an important agglomeration, but the Faubourg around the central aisle in a separatist spirit wants its autonomy. This was done in 1905 with the birth of Bois. In the 1930 s it was the construction of the bridge of Europe, above the canal de l'Ourcq, as well as the renovation of the La Forêt bridge, which will allow the creation of an industrial zone. In the north of the canal, population growth leads to the creation of new equipment, especially school and sports. The town of Pavillons-sous-Bois (23 000 inhabitants) celebrated its centenary. Since 2010, it has embarked on a large urban renovation project that has seen the birth of a new neighbourhood on the banks of the Canal with public housing and facilities. Crossing through the Ourcq canal, Pavillons-sous-Bois is served by the Port of La, which gave its name to the new neighbourhood along the banks. No water stop in the municipality but you can walk from the bassin de la Villette along the canal. It is a beautiful 14 km walk that connects the park from La Villette to Sevran with several possible exit points depending on your level and return by RER. Whether you are travelling by boat or by boat, you will be able to appreciate the evolution of the canal aménagement. New houses from Pantin to the forest banks of Sevran, through all the industrial upheavals of Bobigny and Bondy, the canal transforms.
