Of ancient origin (the existence of a village is attested since the Middle Ages), the city developed around a gypsum mining operation. The oldest preserved heart of the village is located around Saint-Denis, Saint-Pierre and de Nanteuil streets. They bear witness to Rosny's rural and agricultural past. Farmers, winegrowers from the 17th century and market gardeners from the 19th century onwards lived in this largely renovated district. There are several interesting museums in this city of more than 45,000 inhabitants (a number that is growing rapidly) and which is also known in the region to host many shopping centres on its territory, starting with Domus, dedicated to the house, and Rosny 2, more generalist. And if the name Rosny-sous-Bois means anything to you, it's most likely because it's home to the National Highway Information Centre. On the transport side, the city is served by two RER E stations, allowing you to reach the heart of the capital in about twelve minutes.
