Situated on the Maginot defense line, Hatten was a strategic military zone during the Second World War, which destroyed 350 of the 365 houses in the village in the final fighting of 1945. From this period, the municipality preserves the Esch casemate and the museum of the Hatten shelter, both of which can be visited. They show the life of the soldiers in these walls during the conflict with the help of mannequins and period objects. In Hatten, there is a third, more cheerful museum, La Cour de Marie, which presents, on two levels, an important collection evoking the fashion and design of the 1960s and 1970s as well as dozens of Raynal dolls.
