It was in this well-known village that vines were planted on trellises from the 16th century onwards. The grapes, destined for the tables of the nobility and then the bourgeoisie in the 19th century, were transported by boat to the city of Paris. All the alleyways from the cellars to the river still bear witness to this combination of wine-growing and boating: as do the vineyard walls, now protected, the site of the Longs Sillons, where you can walk between the network of walls as far as the port of Effondré, the structure originally built under Philippe Auguste to transport sandstone from Fontainebleau... and also the greenhouses of Solomon's Garden.
