A number of prehistoric and Gallo-Roman remains testify to the age of Mourroux, a village crossed by the Grand Morin, the Fausse Rivière and the Ru du Liéton. Water in abundance, that is to say, a long-exploited potential for hydraulic energy, with 5 mills that once produced large quantities of flour for sale, notably in Paris. Mourroux also boasts a 13th-century church dedicated to Saint Remi. Altered over the centuries, it houses a 16th-century altarpiece with a painting depicting the baptism of Clovis, and a chalice donated to the parish by Empress Eugénie in 1863.
