Not far from Melun, Mormant is a small quiet town placed on the brick plateau in the middle of the grain lands. Known for the frosts of "Abbot la Joie", parish priest for fifty years, whose nickname was due to its weaknesses: player, runner of jupons and used to the neighboring castle of Bressoy, where the lords of Mormant led great life. There is also the «Mormant Case», a glorious episode of the French Campaign, culminating in Napoleon's victory on the Austrian and Russian coated troops on February 17, 1814… The next day, the emperor led his troops to victory in Montereau.
