The history of Livry-sur-Seine goes back to prehistoric times with the first traces of Neolithic occupation. But the village became known only from the 11th century, while its church was built in the 12th century, when the Jewish community of Melun, driven out by Philippe Auguste and Philippe le Bel, settled there. In the 16th century, the village was characterized by its wine-growing activities. And it is in 1621, that its castle was built. This peaceful village developed in a consequent way only from the 1920s and especially after 1945. But the village still preserves several monuments such as its XIIth-XIIIth century church, its old lime kiln, its forest areas..
