The town of Maincy dates back to the Middle Ages. The Romanesque church of Saint-Étienne, built around 1200, is the clearest evidence of this. The town is also best known for its bridge over the Almont, a tributary of the Seine, immortalized by Cézanne in a canvas painted around 1879, Le Pont de Maincy, and kept at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. The famous Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte and its park occupy a good third of the commune's territory, and are well worth a day's visit in themselves. A timeless escapade awaits you in this small village of character in the heart of the Val d'Ancoeur.
