Arpajon lies at the mouth of the Orge valley and its two small tributaries, the Renarde and Rémarde rivers. Its 9,050 inhabitants enjoy a pleasant living environment in a town with a rich historical heritage, as evidenced by the 15th-century halles (covered market). Located in a market-gardening region, the town has its own specialty: chevrier, a variety of flageolet created in 1878 by a Brétigny-sur-Orge farmer named Chevrier. Every year, on the third weekend in September, the town holds its famous bean fair. You can enjoy them here on many other occasions, and even take them home as a souvenir!
