The village is located on the route of the Gallo-Roman road linking Juliobona to Caracotinum. Its creation dates back to the 12th century, by Renaud, Count of Boulogne. The church's Romanesque choir, its proud 18th century bell tower, as well as the elegant and neat appearance of its town hall, decorated with black flint foundations, suggest that fortunes must have resided in La Remuée. In fact, the public building was built thanks to Madame d'Ectot, whose tomb is located in the church, and first welcomed the presbytery. This name is associated with the castle of Maréfosse, which is mentioned in works relating the life of Jean-Pierre de Batz, a famous counterrevolutionary, known for his alleged attempt to escape the royal family from the Temple and mentioned in the famous novel Scaramouche. The Babylon hiking trail (9.5 km, 2.5 hours) will give you the opportunity to talk about it, or the Hell trail (12.5 km, 3 hours) which will take you to Maréfosse.
