Saint-Vigor-d'Ymonville has participated in a number of historical events. Its lords participated in the first crusade and battle of Hastings in 1066, alongside William the Conqueror. Its caves, which are located in the cliffs, have hosted different populations over the centuries. A superb church dedicated to Saint-Vigor was built in the 12th century. Combining Romanesque and Gothic styles, it is also a jewel of the region's churches. In the town there is a large quarry which is located along the way down to the Tancarville canal by the Estrangle road.
