A municipality of 700 inhabitants located on the banks of the Seine estuary, whose Scandinavian name Fastovilla dates back to around 1140, the term Grestain was added to Fatouville when the former municipality of Carbec-Grestain was attached in 1844. Even today, there are two distinct parts: the village of Fatouville, surrounded by many hamlets, is perched at the top of the cliff; while on the edge of the estuary, the villages of Grestain, Carbec and Jobles stand out. The marshes on the banks of the Seine contain an astonishing fauna and flora.
