This former fishing port, which counted up to forty fishing boats in the 19th century, is now a charming village on the banks of the Seine. Whether it is sea or fresh, water has always guided the life of this small town which claims its status as the only seaport in the Eure department! The L'Annick rowboat and the old rigging La fleur des flots are the witnesses of its rich past. From the esplanade, you will enjoy the view of the Normandy and Tancarville bridges, and can go for beautiful walks by the water. The Mont Courel forest, classified as a Sensitive Natural Area for its biodiversity, is remarkable with the presence of heaths.Berville "sur-Mer"? Even if the English Channel is more than ten kilometres away, the Berville-sur-Mer appellation was made official by a Napoleonic decree of 16 February 1869 setting the limit of sea and river waters (Seine estuary). This border was judiciously extended so that the Eure could open up to the sea.
