Saint-Maur, just steps from Lignano-le-Saunier, occupies a remarkable position between plain and mountain and offers a beautiful view west on one and the east. This is even more true from the Sign of the Croix de la Croix Rochette where you will find a guidance table. Saint-Maur also houses a small Romanesque church, one of the least well known Jura, yet interesting. Its origin is not clearly established, but it is known that it was a priory of the abbey of Baume-les-Messieurs. On the first pillar of the nave, a fresco represents Saint Christophe, patron of the travellers, perhaps because the place was a place of pilgrimage.
