Nozeroy has been awarded the "Cité de Caractère Bourgogne-Franche-Comté" label. In the 13thcentury , the Counts of Chalon-Arlay built a fortress in a strategic location between Switzerland and the Duchy of Burgundy. In the 15th century, the château was transformed into a luxurious palace, but destroyed before the French Revolution. Its stones were used to build the Château d'Arlay. With its rich medieval past, Arlay is a lively town in summer, and the streets are full of traces of its history. You can follow the signposted trail. In July, a feast is organized with a banquet and parade in period costume. Don't miss it!
