Sometimes called "Little Siberia" for its record-breaking winter temperatures (-36.7°C on January 13, 1968), Mouthe lies at the heart of the Jura mountains. In the heart of nature, this winter tourism mecca hosts the finish of the Transjurassienne, a prestigious Nordic ski race. This is also where the Doubs River rises. The immense spruce forests, peat bogs, lakes, vast meadows and unspoilt fauna will satisfy the strongest desires for the great outdoors and delight budding naturalists. Some even compare the area to parts of Canada. It's a land of warmth, narrow roads and fine inns.
