Fouday is a small, peaceful village at the foot of the mountain, where life is good and nature is ideal. The first mention of Fouday dates back to the 14th century. At that time, the village appears in texts under the name of Urbach. However, it already existed at the end of the 11th century, as evidenced by the church steeple, typical of the Romanesque art of the period. After its attraction for Catholics, Fouday became a Protestant center in the 18th century, thanks to a well-known philanthropist, Pastor Jean Frédéric Oberlin (1740-1826), who is buried in the churchyard.
