Eschbourg-Graufthal is in fact the grouping of two distinct villages without any visual relationship: Eschbourg occupies a balcony position on a sandy plateau surrounded by its forest and Graufthal is located at the bottom of the valley in a widening at the confluence of the Zinsel du Sud and the Rethalerbaechel. Nestled against the imposing sandstone cliffs, appear the Maisons des Rochers, a famous tourist site as well as the remains of a 12th century abbey.
