The village of Meusnes is not as discreet as one might think. In fact, it appears in Diderot's encyclopaedia as "one of the best places for flint". Indeed, from the 17th to the 19th century, Meusnes was the capital of the flint industry, with quarries 10 to 20 metres deep. So it is not by chance that a museum is dedicated to this material discovered in the 16th century. This piece of pyromache flint was used to produce the spark to ignite the powder, causing the propulsion of the projectile. The term "flint" is also used in oenology to define the aroma of a Sancerre or Chablis wine.
