Musée de la pierre à fusil (gun flint museum) in Meusnes, presenting stones cut to fit rifles and pistols.

Meusnes is famous for its wines, but it was also the world capital of the flintlock. Made from flint, the stones produced a spark to deflagrate gunpowder for pistols and muskets. Annual production rose to 25 million to supply Napoleon's armies. The invention of the cartridge sounded the death knell for production. Two enthusiasts have revived flintknapping for collectors.
