This is a brand new commune, created in 2016 following the merger of Montrichard and Bourré. Montrichard Val de Cher lies on the banks of the River Cher, between Tours and Romorantin-Lanthenay. Both "communes déléguées" have preserved their medieval heritage: Bourré's Moulin Blanc, once part of the Amboise commandery, is a modest reminder of this, being no more than a small house built around 1229; Montrichard's Maison du Prêche is the town's oldest, dating from the 11th and 12th centuries. There are also mushroom beds and a troglodytic site where silkworms are still raised.
