A visit to the capital of Sologne begins with a stroll around the lake, entering the Parc Fernand-Buisson. A grand tour takes you through old Romorantin, a quiet haunt. The remains of fortifications, the Braud gate, medieval houses and the churches of Saint-Étienne and Saint-Aignan will hold your attention, as will the town's three museums, including one devoted to the automobile. Romorantin is still remembered for François I, who received a facial wound while heckling here, forcing him to grow a beard.
