The Gauls had settled on this territory which must have already had a great strategic importance because one finds there the traces of a certain number of their defensive mottes. These military works, which have become useless, have disappeared over the centuries and the various castles that dot the commune are elegant residences that are pleasant to live in, in the shadow of their prestigious neighbour, the Château de Cheverny. The old water mills add charm to the walks around the village. Cour Cheverny is also an appellation for a wine whose grape variety Romorantin was introduced by King François I and which gives a white wine full of history
