The town of Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine is built in an amphitheatre on a promontory. The environment is made up of limestone rocks which were used as material for the construction of its monuments. Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, "stage town - city of cheese", is famous for its PDO goat cheese. But there is also a 15th century castle, a priory chapel, a local history museum, a 12th century crypt, old 15th century houses, 17th century market halls, a typical and colourful market and a cheese route. The valley of the Coteaux discovers, along winding roads, mills and troglodyte houses.
