To the south-west of Tours, Saché is a cultural hotspot. A certain Honoré de Balzac was a regular visitor for over 20 years. In the small room reserved for him in the château, he found calm and inspiration for his novels, including Le Lys dans la vallée, which takes place in the château de la Chevrière. No wonder there's a museum dedicated to him! Saché also boasts a number of listed buildings (Saint-Martin-de-Vertou church, Boulay manor house, town houses, etc.). Another artist who left his mark on the town is the sculptor Alexander Calder, whose studio is still a mecca for artistic creation.
