THE HOUSE OF THE ENVIRONMENT NATURE RESERVE

1 review

The nature reserve of the Isle of Isle is nature in the heart of the city. A few minutes walk from the centre, the visitor is surrounded by wild and semi-wild nature. Located in a wetland area of approximately hectares, part of which is devoted to water sports and fishing, the reserve presents a wide variety of species in the moving waters, and a particularly rich avifauna of breeding birds or seasonal hosts: butternut, posh, coot, rousserolle, fauvette and, in times of migration, many ducks, sandpipers, curlew… The farmhouse allows visitors to observe chickens, ducks, sheep, peacock, geese, kids, lambs and ponies. A few steps away, the Wild Wildlife protection centre treats injured birds (kept out of the public eye). The Environment House, at the entrance to the park, regularly hosts exhibitions on local fauna and flora. Site tour by a peripheral path, guided every first Sunday of the month.

The buildings on General-Foy Avenue are undergoing restructuring. Some barracks become housing, others are allocated to the Regional and Departmental Directorate of Youth and Sports or to the hosting of high-level athletes. If you turn around the island, admire an exemplary architectural success: the transformation of military buildings into a superb house for the reception of dependent elderly people: Les 4 Chênes, rue Lescouvé.

THE CHURCH OF OUR LADY

Churches cathedrals basilicas and chapels
4/5
1 review

According to tradition and according to a former document, King Saint Louis would be the founder of the church Notre-Dame de Chambly. Most of this Gothic building dates back to the th century; the choir, the nave, the facade, the small chapel of the Holy Virgin and the th century tower. The nave contains a beautifully sculpted Louis XIV chair. Four turning points, part of an immense polyptyque of antwerp or brabançonne origin, attract many visitors. These components represent St. Gregory's Mass, the Supper, the Judas de Judas, Ecce Homo, the Garden of Olive Trees, Pentecost and Resurrection.

LOCAL ABBEY

Abbey monastery and convent
4/5
1 review

Notre-Dame Abbey was built in 1138 by Raoul IV of Vermandois, Comte de Crépy. If the church we observe today is very different from that of the 40 th century, excavations over the past years have revealed the architectural importance of the parish: a rigorous symmetry, a prominent transept, a basilicale nave and a flat chevet choir (replaced by a apse in the th century). After the Hundred Years War, the abbey is almost entirely restored. The nave passes from five to three spans. The crosspieces are associated with the central vessel thanks to a hanger double arcade back on a circular stack. The abbey is a beautiful example of flamboyant Gothic, as evidenced by the very wide and refined rose facade of its exterior exterior, illuminated under the rays of the sunset sun. The abbey is located outside the village of Bonneuil (access by RD 32 between Fresnoy-la-Rivière and Vez).

This one is now a delight for walkers, pedal boat enthusiasts and especially fishermen. The Velodrome campsite offers 75 pitches and 8 motorhome spaces.

Like an island between the Ourcq and its canal, the mail is a beautiful walk that belongs to the city of Paris since the th century. The river is bordered by a footbridge built by a young engineer from the city of Paris, unknown at the time, named Gustave Eiffel. On either side of the bridge and the tower belonging to the former city hall, you can see: on the left, the garden of the property of the Sconin, the property of Jean Racine, and the right, the garden of the property Héricart, where La Fontaine is married.

Yes, La Marne, if one sometimes tends to forget it, is one of the most important assets of the commune. A few years before the Revolution, in 1784, when men hijacked it from its original bed to gain ground, the river caused significant flooding, which was repeated in the early th century. The preferred solution was to lift the right bank. But if his relations with man were sometimes tense, they also gave rise to beautiful works, including beautiful bridges, including the one built by François I, with 9 arches.

Eparpillées in the old town, some houses were occupied by the German bombings of 1940. Just behind the cathedral, those of Racine and Pastour streets built in the th century are, for example, recognisable to their étages floors. It is in the route des Chasse-marée that is the oldest house in Beauvais: judge rather, it dates back to 1410! It was originally located in the rue Oudry, and was completely dismantled to be rebuilt in the 1990 s at the bedside of the cathedral. Today it houses the headquarters of the Association «Maisons paysannes de l'Oise». Also in the episcopal district, the streets of the Tourne-Broche, Abbot-Gellée, School-de-Chant (including the Rodin House in which the sculptor lived for three years) also houses canoniales houses. The beautiful half-timbered houses built in the 27 th century are also numerous on the street of June. It was here that the members of the clergy and the notables were inhabited, while the bourgeois and the workers were relegated beyond the Gallo-Roman walls.
