ADMINISTRATION OF CULTURESPACES ARES
Read moreThe Nîmes Arena is one of the city's most important cultural monuments. Built around 100 AD, they are considered the best-preserved amphitheatre of the Roman Empire. Unlike the Colosseum in Rome, the Nîmes Arena has been preserved and converted into a residential area, allowing visitors to explore its arena, stands, interior galleries and arcades. With a capacity of 24,000 spectators, the amphitheatre offers a unique experience for visitors. The galleries and staircases, known as "vomitories", ensure a smooth flow of visitors and prevent jostling. The Arènes de Nîmes is also home to an area dedicated to the life of gladiators and the history of the bull, as well as a gladiator's changing room. Visitors can choose between a self-guided tour with an audioguide or a guided tour in summer. A treasure hunt and a dramatized tour are also available.

TARN GORGES

Typical villages cross the river Tarn from Ispagnac: Quézac, Montbrun, Castelbouc, La Malène, Les Vignes, Le Rose, Sainte-Enimie, which is a feudal village. In the summer, there was a river on the bottom of the gorge to admire the high cliffs and rocky balls in canoe. Excavations are so deep and narrow, that in some places the cliffs tighten up and rise up to 500 m.
