The most beautiful natural sites to discover Italy

After the river Agna, a little trail leads to this strange cave shaped by the sea millions of years ago. She was inhabited by man at the end of the upper Paleolithic, as evidenced by the presence of graves. Under the cave, another cavity housed 40 burials.

The peninsula of Capo Caccia is part of the Regional Natural Park of Porto Conte. Surrounded by high limestone cliffs, it is here that the Neptune caves are sheltered. The spectacular view from the tip of the cape opens out onto the bay of Porto Conte, the bay of Alghero and the entire coast that runs southwards. Numerous hiking trails start at the Casa del Parco in Tramariglio leading to small desolate creeks. Good footwear should be worn. The park office is housed in old prison buildings.

Prehistoric caves at the lights (white, yellow and red) and transparent and unfazed waters. 

The powerful maritime republic did not only deploy its military force on the sea. Vigilant, it took care, in the 16th century, to build ramparts on its northern front, punctuated by thirteen fortresses (i Forti), built between the 17th and 19th centuries, to accommodate the garrisons. Today, this huge facility has become an urban nature park of more than 870 hectares, which you can visit freely on foot and by bike. This defensive arsenal of the city can only be fully grasped by boat. Guided excursions are regularly organised by the tourist office.

Swimming in Bagno Vignoni? Admittedly, you can enjoy the beneficial virtues of the thermal waters at the spa of the hotel Le Terme, in the piazza delle Sorgenti. But if you want to have fun in the water in the middle of nature and without paying anything, we have a plan! Below the hill where the constant flow hot spring flows (follow the sign "Parco dei Mulini"), a clay basin awaits you in a magnificent landscape. The path is steep but relatively easy. Remember to bring your bathing suit and a towel!

At the bottom of Agropoli city center are the lungomare and its beautiful beach, enjoy a long walk along the harbor and do not hesitate to stop in one of the many cafés or restaurants. A little further, you will find a long sandy beach, really very pleasant but careful, it is invaded in summer by the inhabitants of Campania.

Almost round island, 2 km, which housed before a volcanic crater partially covered with vineyards. Is easily accessible via the bridge linking it to the mainland with Coroglio, not far from the Virgiliano park.

This 30 000 m ² oasis of lawns and ancient trees surrounds the Sirènes bay. The ideal place for those who want to rest. Available to clients: deck chairs, children's games, showers and toilets.

Less famous than Berchida, the beach stretching northwards between La Caletta and the mouth of the Posada river is no less charming. Bordered by the Stagno Lungo and a whole network of river arms that flow into the lagoon, it's never crowded, thanks to its length: almost 3 km of fine, white sand for unhindered toweling. The coastline is often battered by winds, and it's no coincidence that the "spiaggia grande" is equipped for water sports, including kitesurfing and windsurfing.

Nestling in the heart of a holm oak forest, the Is Janas cave reveals its mysteries along a 240 m-long corridor. It is of considerable importance for the archaeological remains found there and for the fauna that lives there, including the geotriton, endemic to the island. Among the archaeological finds are shards of pottery and forged bowls used by the Ozieri culture around 3,000 BC. The tour continues along a superb path that leads to Stampu 'e su Turrunu, a 16 m-high waterfall that gushes out of a huge hole in the rock.

This natural gorge was created 15 million years ago. Over the years, erosion by the Pioverna torrent and the Adda glacier carved out the rock and formed the narrow canyon we see today. The site can be explored along footbridges over the water, offering wonderful views of the waterfalls and the rocks on which the light reflects.

The isolated Sa Stiddiosa waterfall is a masterpiece of nature, a flow of water over a rock face into the Flumendosa River. This karst spring is impressive in spring, when the ground is waterlogged and a veritable shower of rain falls from the rock, constellating the river with ripples. The walls over which the waterfall slides turn green, the humidity forming dense, almost tropical vegetation. Add to this spectacle a river of crystal-clear waters and numerous basins for bathing. A must-see in spring.

Among Castelsardo's most beautiful beaches and coves are Marina di Badesi (Li Junchi), a 7 km golden sand beach ideal for surfers; San Pietro, in the municipality of Valledoria, with its fine cream-colored sand, protected by dunes and a pine and eucalyptus forest; Prima Guardia (La Ciaccia), a golden sand beach bathed by a transparent sea and with shallow waters, ideal for families. Finally, to the west of the town, Lu Bagnu, a vast, paradisiacal stretch of sand bordered by crystal-clear waters and awarded the Blue Flag.
