ISOLA DI ALBARELLA

Natural site to discover

The island of Albarella is certainly the most exclusive part of the Delta. This little natural paradise is a private property; for the small story, it belongs to the family of Marcegaglia entrepreneurs, whose president Emma Marcegaglia was President of Confindustria, the Italian Medef, until 2012. Covered with white cottonwood, inhabited by deer, harms, heheans and dominated by Ca 'Tiepolo, a beautiful Venetian villa dating from the middle of the eighteenth century, Albarella is unfortunately only accessible if you plan to stay in one of its beautiful villas (rent) or at the large local hotel. Also those who plan to play golf along the 18 hole course will get the pass pass. A marina and 3 km of beaches complement the surroundings.

RISERVA NATURALE ORRIDO DI BOTRI

Natural site to discover

The kingdom of the golden eagle, the Orrido di Botri nature reserve, created in 1971, covers approximately 2,000 hectares of wilderness. You will discover a breathtaking fauna and flora, but above all the most spectacular canyon in Tuscany! Located on the slopes of the Rondinaio and Tre Potenze mountains, this imposing limestone formation was formed thousands of years ago as a result of the movement of tectonic plates. Its steep walls rise up to 200 metres in height in places, and are now dug by the (very) fresh waters of the Rio Pelago (note that a permit is required to canyon down this river).

From a practical point of view, you will find all the essential information you need to know before embarking on this "water hike", and the details of the different routes, at the Centro di accoglienza dei Carabinieri Forestali, located in Ponte a Gaio (4 kilometres north of Montefegatesi). We advise you to take the SP-56 road to get there; the others are very steep. The Orrido di Botri nature reserve is open from June to September. The excursions leave from Ponte to Gaio, unique access to the gorge, and are guided if you wish (reservation by email required in advance). It is necessary to provide adequate equipment because the rocks are slippery (light shoes are prohibited). Headsets are provided by the reception centre. Access to animals is not allowed.

RAGANELLO GRAVEL

Natural site to discover

We have to see, a few kilometres north of Cività, this splendid set of quite steep gorges. We will stop, to admire the landscape, on the little Del bridge, recently revived, in order to allow some farmers - we can cross, with some luck - to be able to cross the high gorges without making the grand tour. Not far from there, the Serra Dolcedorme (2 267 m) offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Pollino.

Situated on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, this ancient city probably developed around the 89 th century BC, submitted by the Etruscans, and then by the inhabitants of Cuma, it became a Roman colony in the year BC, but its total loss of autonomy coincided with the beginning of considerable growth, economic, urban and artistic. But this period of prosperity was abruptly interrupted in 63 ha. By a violent earthquake, the beginning of the Vesuvius eruption of August 24, 79. The city remained buried under the lava almost until 1748, when it was undertaken - in a discontinuous way - the first searches. We also discovered Herculaneum, another nearby city, buried also under the lava lava.
