21 reviews

Prosper Maufoux, property of the Piffaut family since 2010, custodian of a two hundred year old family wine tradition in Burgundy, leaves Santenay to settle at the Château de Saint-Aubin. The place is prestigious and enjoys a view on the vineyard, the closed of the castle. On the road to the Grands Crus, the Prosper Maufoux estate covers 9 hectares in the heart of the most prestigious appellations: Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Puligny-Montrachet1er Cru, Meursault1er Cru, Chassagne-Montrachet1er Cru or Saint-Aubin1er Cru. The techniques used aim to promote a reasoned culture, and the two cellar managers, Mathieu Joblot and Nadine Gublin, renowned oenologists, see to it. They consider that if it is brought to light by the hand of man, only the terroir should express itself.

Aged in oak barrels, the origins and toast are carefully combined and adapted to the appellation and the vintage, in order to favor the expression of the terroir and the search for a discreet woodiness. For optimal development, the wines rest for 10 to 18 months in the cellars of the château, which you can visit. Friendly and commented tasting experiences, electric bike rides. For a complete experience, the estate promises you a memorable stay in one of its four spacious guest rooms with parquet floors and a view of the vineyard and the heated outdoor pool.

This is the story of three boys: Alexandre Faupin, Mr Technical, Nicolas Seyve, Mr Production, and Jean-David Camus, Mr Image, who had in common the love of beer and their beloved town of Beaune. In May 2014, they therefore founded a brewery. There were no more since the 1950 s. They named him Belenium, in tribute to the Gallic god of harmony and beauty, the Apollo of our ancestors. Legend tells us that Bélénos would have given his name to Beaune. The "Blonde" is light, fine, slightly spicy and fruity. Very nice in the mouth! Arrive at the Amber Beer No. 2 and Christmas No. 3. They will be numbered in the order of their creation. Pasteurisées and non-filtered beers, carried out in small quantities and refermentées, a graphic charter that recalls the epoxy roofs of Beaune and a currency: causa nostrae laetitiae, "the first cause of joy", which takes over the first motto of the city of Beaune. All elements of a future great success are gathered! The first brewed beer is already served in some restaurants and available in some wine merchants: Loiseau des Vignes, Le Cep Hotel, restaurant Le Sushikai… As the Romans said, Deus vobiscum!

This specialized boutique is known as the oldest wine store in Beaune. A real, quite typical reference, which is part of the local landscape. The visit is inevitable when you are amateur with good bottles. Jerome and David are two enthusiasts who select the wines with great care. If the shop seems very modest, the cellars are not. Located under the Vinothek and the nearby shops, they are arched and date back to the th century. Many wines from the whole beaunoise and nuitonne coast are presented. As well as the chalonnaise coast, as well as champagnes and crémants. You find very well-known domains such as Romanée Conti, Denis Mortet, Marc Roy and many others. At the entrance to the shop, a genuine slate tells you the good business of the moment with their prices. Finally the shop shows you just a tiny foretaste of what you find in the cellars. After having represented Burgundy's wines for twenty years, Yvonnick Debray bought a vineyard in 2006. The 1,000 m2-fermenting room and cellars are situated in the heart of Beaune, at a stone's throw from the hospices. Between properties and marketing grapes from a reasoned culture, it is the equivalent of 20 hectares of vineyards, spread over Côte de Nuits and Beaune that are transformed. The wine-making is entrusted to Jean-Philippe Terreau, a cellar master whose experience guarantees the elaboration of quality wines.

The typicality of each area is respected, and it is as many whites as reds that are offered. The whites range from Aligoté to Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru through Mercurey, Savigny, Meursault or Chassagne-Montrachet. The range of the reds stretches from Gevrey-Chambertin to Santenay. A special mention for Clos Vougeot Grand Cru. The tasting room is very comfortable; it has a unique marble spittoon! The reception is very friendly. MAISON LOUIS JADOT

Winery

17 reviews
Closed - Open to 11h00

The first vines of the Maison Jadot were planted in 1826, three generations of this family succeeded there. In 1984, Jadot became an American property but retained its Burgundian soul. Today, Maison Louis Jadot controls 220 hectares in Burgundy, including 80 in Beaujolais. Since the spring 2013, Maison Louis Jadot has been open to individuals. Its shop is installed in the north of Beaune, in the heart fermenting rooms. The architecture of the fermenting room of Rouges is impressive; it is reminiscent of a cathedral. That of the white, equally large, is more contemporary and contrasting sharply with the previous one. The long raising cave of a hundred metres, houses nearly 4,000 references. The tasting that closes this memorable visit allows you to discover the Louis Jadot wines. The tours are only in small groups; the shop is accessible without the visit.

Next to the Notre-Dame Basilica, the Maison Joseph Drouhin Oenotheque is located in the magnificent building of the former Parliament of Burgundy. This building, which dates back to the 12th century, is worth a visit and the marble plaque on the pediment speaks volumes about its historical past. Once through the airlock, you enter a sublime room where the stone columns support a vaulted ceiling, a luxury case for haute couture wines. The oenotheque is the showcase for the wines of a world-renowned estate. Founded in 1880, the estate is still run by the same family. The family is committed to perpetuating the tradition by ensuring each step of the production, from the work in the vineyard to the promotion and export. In short, this place is a sumptuous boutique where you can offer yourself one of the 90 Joseph Drouhin appellations, including some old vintages straight from the reserve. Here you can visit the historic cellars dating back to the 13th and 15th centuries that run under the city. Once you have had this unique experience, you can taste the wines of the estate. Regularly, the oenotheque renews thematic meetings, on reservation, for groups limited between 8 and 30 people. The agenda is posted on the website: blind tastings, food and wine pairings with truffles or chocolate, tasting of great wines... New: a guided tour of the vineyards of the Maison au Clos des Mouches by electric bicycle followed by a visit to the cellars and a tasting.
