Verdigny is located 5 km northwest of Sancerre, in the heart of the Sancerrois vineyard. This village is recognized for the quality of its wines in AOC Sancerre, its soils and the know-how of its winemakers. Verdigny is the smallest municipality in the canton of Sancerre in size but its winemakers operate 300 hectares of vineyards or about 15% of the total area of the Sancerkings vineyard. Its territory is strongly marked by two hills (west, Verdigny and Chaudoux coasts, east and south, Crêle, Perrière and Renardières); between the two, a slightly rolling plain extends. Sources feed fountains, wells and an old pumping station in a predominantly limestone terrain. The place called Perrière houses an ancient stone quarry.
