Approximately two thousand specimens Cedrus Brevifolia, an endogenous cousin in Cyprus of cedar in Lebanon: This is what you propose the nature reserve called "Cedar Valley," which stretches along a small band (1 km). It may be assumed that this variety once occupied a more extensive territory (we find it, and there there are unique copies), but we can only welcome the initiative to preserve them today in this area. In this respect, the fact that no "easy" road leads to it is probably a guarantee of longevity. This valley is often described as an almost mythical destination, loaded with a particular aura, a sort of outcome, such as the elephants cemetery or the Sargasso Sea. Frankly, the path that leads to it is as interesting as its purpose: We move through the forest, on a pretty easy track when you come from Panayia, and more problematic from Stavros or Tsakistra. You will appreciate the freshness provided by the large pine trees of Aleppo and the cypress trees and the course, once the bitumen has been abandoned, of 11 km of track before arriving at this coveted site: a cottage of about 800 m, in the middle of this pine forest. It's pretty pretty, there's a fountain to get refreshing and a picnic area. We will turn around the valley in a quarter of an hour (about 2 km). You will also find an explanatory sign on cedar in Cyprus: the main information, in addition to the dimensions and origins, shall be the flowering period: September, October, which are also excellent periods, with regard to climate and attendance, to choose this destination. The island has approximately 230 000 cedars.
