In 1965, geologist Fischer reported traces of a Celtic refuge and numerous Roman objects in the vicinity of the "Rudlist", all the more surprising as Wolschwiller, together with Oberlarg, is nevertheless one of the centres of storm formation in the Alsatian Jura, hence the violence of hailstones. In June 1934, it took only 20 minutes to clear the meadows and fields under a thick layer of hail.
