This small town of 211 inhabitants is famous for its priory of Vausse, erected in the 13th century by Anséric de Montréal, which enjoyed great prosperity until the 15th century. Indeed, this priory was under the protection of the lords of Montreal and the dukes of Burgundy. It was burnt down in the 18th century and transformed into an earthenware factory during the Revolution. In the vicinity of the village, the walk in the forest of Morcon leads to an interesting monolith: the menhir of the White Lady, 2.52 meters high and sunk to a depth of one meter. It was obviously venerated in the past.
