Travel Guide Apremont-Sur-Allier

Ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages in France, Apremont deserves its title. Built at the foot of the castle on the banks of the Allier river, in a farming region where nature and hedges are still preserved, it is a treasure of a small village that we discover, with its pink ochre houses with old-fashioned charm. Apremont was a village of quarrymen. The numerous quarries provided an abundance of cut stone, which was then transported by flat-bottomed boats that followed the Allier and then the Loire. The stones were thus used in the construction of several religious buildings, including the cathedral of Orleans. The castle and its magnificent floral park give the jewel that is Apremont-sur-Allier its wonderful charm.
