It is the easternmost commune of the territory. In the Chalonnaise plain, surrounded by the forest of La Ferté and the Bois de la Dame which cover three quarters of its territory, Saint-Germain-lès-Buxy was called Saint-Germain-des-Bois until 1880. An unmissable green walk, "La Forêt" takes you to discover a castle or a hunting hut. In the village, the castle of Saint-Germain-lès-Buxy (15th and 19th centuries) shelters in its park a pedunculated oak tree labelled "Remarkable Tree of France" - an oak tree about 150 years old, with a trunk with a circumference of 4.62 metres and branches on the ground with a circumference of 120 metres! - and a spring dedicated to Saint Germain where future mothers came to drink his water to have a son. Hameaux de la Coudre and la Petite Coudre.
