On your way to Stirling from Edinburgh or Glasgow, you will probably pass by Falkirk. Not very touristy, this city is nevertheless known for the Helix, an urban park where you can find the Kelpies, two huge equestrian statues of 30 m high (www.thehelix.co.uk). The Falkirk Wheel is a boat lift that lifts boats 24 m above the canals (www.scottishcanals.co.uk). The Callendar House proposes exhibitions of contemporary art and goes back to the Antonine Wall, a vestige of the Roman Empire which passed over the current site of its park.
