In the southeast of the island, the village of Whiting Bay and its sandy beaches are the starting point for a memorable walk. Before the south exit of the village, a small bridge over a river, some parking spaces and a sign announce the path leading to Glenashdale Falls and Giants' Graves. The first are superb waterfalls and the second are remains of Neolithic tombs. The path is quite passable and offers beautiful views of Holy Isle. Allow just under five kilometres to complete the loop. On the cultural side, it is also the place to visit the Arran Art Gallery, which exhibits many local works (Shore Road, Whiting Bay, ✆ +44 177 070 0250 - www.arranartgallery.com. Open every day from 10am to 5pm). A little further down, towards Kildonan, the mild coastline attracts seals and the view of the ruins of the castle, Pladda Island and Ailsa Craig in the distance is very pleasant.
