Just a few miles north of Stirling, these two small towns that border each other are worth a stop on your way north. Dunblane is famous for its Gothic cathedral and tennis star Andy Murray, who grew up there. Its center dates back to the 7th century, when the city was founded in 602 by the missionary St. Blane at a ford. Its neighbor, Doune, is smaller and can be visited for its castle and its distillery. The town center is quite touristy, with remarkable buildings such as the Kilmadock parish church built in 1822, the Moray Institute and the Bridge of Teith, built in 1533, or the Market Cross, dated 1620.
