Chiusaforte is a quiet village located at the confluence of the Fella river with the Raccolana torrent. It is dominated by a neoclassical church whose facade, reminiscent of a Greek temple, stands out in the Alpine environment. Its name(chiusa means closed) comes from the fact that the city was strategically located at the entrance of a valley connecting the Adriatic with Central Europe. An ancient Venetian fort controlled the passage of men and goods; it was demolished in 1833 by the Austrians. The territory of Chiusaforte is rich in rivers and waterfalls, which can be found by walking up the Val Raccolana.
