Bassin is located in the southern part of the island. The panoramic road winds between the houses of Pointe à Marichite to Étang-des-Caps. You will stop at the lighthouse of Anse à la Cabane, on Cap du Sud, at the beach of Dune de l'Ouest and, finally, at the high red sandstone cliffs of Étang-des-Caps. Offshore, you will see Corps Mort, a solitary rock that serves as a natural refuge for birds, fish and seals. This area of Bassin is home to the largest forest on the island (hikers beware). In the centre, at La Montagne, is Le Site d'Autrefois, which allows you to discover the habits and customs of the area.
